“I’m so proud to have come in contact with APP - the dream I presume of every ugandan prisoner. Those people are so nice and to me I consider myself the child of APP. When all hope is gone and in a situation of despair in the maximum security prison in Uganda I meet this group of young men and women who come with the hearts of angels. And my life has never been the same. They supported me in all aspects of life while in prison and when I got out of the prison as a free man after 7 years I find not my relatives but APP to receive me.
It is one thing getting out of prison and quite another to be welcome home, but APP gave to me the welcome that was too good for me to believe. I stayed with Alexander in the house, ate with him and worked with him. Like a brother to me he taught me how to become a man. My dreams as a young man had all vanished my education gone, coming from a poor family with no one to suport me. but APP came at the right time. Today I’m in my fouth year at law school with the suport of APP. EVEN WHEN I FEEL THINGS NOT MOVING I RUN BACK TO TALK TO THEM. They have picked me from the ashes and uplifted me to the new class of people that I had never thought of in life.
APP has and continues to be a great influence on my life and many more of ex-prisoners and those still in prisons in Uganda.”

“The achievement of Alexander McLean and his colleagues is outstanding and they have had to overcome numerous hurdles to achieve an incredible feat. Their self-sacrifice to better the lives of those less fortunate is highly commendable.”

“I was arrested and remanded at Luzira Remand Prison. My friend in prison told me about the sick bay, which was financed by APP. I got very good treatment at the sick bay and a doctor asked me to be going there for special food and porridge which other sick prisoners were getting. I used to go to the library, which was also financed by APP, to read books. I was also a member of the reading club which was headed by a very good lady from APP, Miss Glorias.”

“I really express my sincere appreciation to you for the love you have towards prisoners in general. Your love towards prisoners, of which I am one, is beyond most human recognition and understanding. Because of its immense reality and practical nature, you are exhibiting the Biblical reality of loving someone the way he is, after all, we are all sinners. Putting together all what you have done, you are doing and intend to do for the prisoners and Ugandans in general, I have to thank God first of all the one who created you and also to wholeheartedly thank you for allowing God to use you to assist us wretched people.”
Livingstone
“I was most warmly welcomed and the hospitality, service and kindness of all the staff was excellent. Rebecca made the arrangements with ease and Sylvia was a wonderful host!”

“African Prisons Project is a truly remarkable venture, helping some of the most vulnerable people in the world. This is exactly the kind of work that the OTS wants to see thrive.”

“APP Family, I can not put into words how lovely and also life changing this summer has been for me. I will never forget APP, Uganda or those in prison here.”

“Your simplicity has always been my inspiration. Your care for the sick will always remain my challenge and I will always do my best. Prison as it is was a nightmare. However, like every cloud with it’s silver lining, I have learnt a lot. I was a soldier by profession. I have trained in prison as an HIV/AIDS counsellor. I work in the inmates hospital, precisely the Aileen Chapple Wing. We are grateful for all your support.”
Lawrence
“I must thank you for the work well done by you. The services that you rendered to us can not be expressed in mere words alone. In fact, I never expected you to go the extra mile like that. There is a saying that goes ‘never judge a person by what he appears to be; in the hands of God, his potentials are limitless’. If you had not stood firm from the start, the accomplishments for which you have now become famous would have gone to another. You chose to be right rather than popular. Remember, that those who can meet needs will always draw a crowd, as there will always be needs represented in the crowd. We shall never forget you for your compassion for suffering humanity which is ever boundless. We thank God for having used you in a tremendous way.”

“Alexander’s achievement is phenomenal. He and his colleagues had to overcome so many hurdles. This is an incredible example of self-sacrifice, which shows real results in improving the lives of those less fortunate.”
