Our New Office Space.

19 December 2011

APP is incredibly pleased to announce its partnership with 3Space (www.3space.org) 3space.org

APP has been searching for office space for some time and was delighted to have been told about 3Space who has now offered us the most wonderful office space we ever could have hoped for.

Emma Humphrey, APP fundraiser, went along to collect the keys on Friday 16 December and here she describes APP’s new office and what it means to APP and the team:

“Our new office space has three large desks, a large storage room, a boardroom area and training room with projector, along with kitchen facilities. We are sharing the building with lots of friendly people from 3Space and other small organisations like ourselves.
Being centrally based on Oxford Street, the office space is an ideal location for the APP UK team to operate at a very low cost knowing that every penny raised goes to those in prison in Africa to bring dignity and hope through healthcare, education, access to justice and community reintegration. We are proud that we are able to continue to operate at a low cost. Having this central office from 3Space is fantastic, and we are so excited about it. It gives our organisation a base for the team to work alongside the interns and volunteers on whom it relies to assist in completing an ambitious fundraising strategy. We are really grateful for this opportunity particularly as we have been working remotely for around the last 3 months. Considering that our cause is a challenging one for which to raise funds, we wish to ensure that any money raised goes directly towards APP’s work in Africa.”

Emma will be using the new office alongside the Director General Alexander McLean and a team of dedicated interns and volunteers to raise funds for the organisation.

This is an exciting time of growth for APP as the organisation is working in an ever greater number of prisons and is working with important partners; therefore having this base in central London will assist in raising funds and allow the team to work on the important administrative tasks to support the transformation we are bringing about in the lives of people in prisons in Africa.

For every pound APP raises, it raises the equivalent in pro bono support/donations in kind such as this wonderful free office space.

A BIG THANK YOU
to 3Space on behalf of all the inmates and prison staff we serve and from us all at APP.

About 3Space

3Space works with landlords and leaseholders throughout the UK to offer organisations benefitting the community temporary free of charge access to properties that would otherwise be empty.
It aims to promote the efficiency and effectiveness of charities and the effective use of charitable resources for the benefit of the public by providing charities, non-profit or community organisations with access to property in otherwise vacant units on a non-commercial basis; and to promote charitable use of property as a means of empowering communities, regenerating areas, developing a robust community sector, supporting social enterprise and delivering public benefit.

3Space strives to find charities and organisations which can use its spaces often within short time periods and it is forming strong relationships with UK charities and umbrella bodies such as ACEVO, NCVO, the Ethical Property Foundation and local CVS who can put 3Space in touch with potential users.

Working with 3Space helps landlords fulfil Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) obligations. 3Space offers landlords a saving in their expenses but also invites them to have as little or as much involvement with the charities using its spaces. All charities using 3Space spaces are required to provide information on the public benefit that they will deliver in using the space. 3Space uses this information to demonstrate to landlords the benefits that have been achieved by making their space available; this information can then be used in a CSR or other report for shareholders.

3Space partners with organisations able to manage staff volunteering. It can connect people directly to charities using its spaces so others can become involved in corporate volunteering programmes.
