Opportunities to join APP as a project volunteer in Kampala, Uganda

The African Prisons Project(APP) is an innovative charity founded to improve access to healthcare, education, justice and community reintegration for prisoners in Africa. APP is looking for volunteers to assist us in the implementation of our 2012 project implementation in a range of different areas.

APP Recruiting for Project Volunteers

APP is looking for volunteers to assist us in the implementation of our 2012 project implementation in a range of different areas.

Location: APP HQ, Kampala, Uganda.

Commitment: Full time for 3 months

APP is recruiting for volunteers to join us for 3 month periods.

Between Feb – April (deadline for applications 20/01/2011)

Between April – June (deadline for applications 10/03/2011)

Between July – Sept (deadline for applications 10/06/2011)

Between October – December (deadline for applications 10/09/2011)


Responsibilities of the role:

·      Each volunteer will take the responsibility for one of the following areas (please make clear in your covering letter which role you have a particular interest in):

Supporting University of London Students

– this role is suitable for a law student and will involve supporting inmates and prison staff who are studying for an LLB degree or a Diploma in the Common Law via correspondence with the University of London. 

  Sports

– this role will involve working with our sports project, organising sports tournaments for the inmates and assisting APP project staff. Ideal for someone with a background or interest in sport.

Drama, Music and Art

– this role will involve working alongside project staff with inmates and prison staff with their drama, arts and music activities and classes. This role is ideal for someone with experience of drama, music, arts and teaching.
