It is with fond memories that we remember the life of Ted Ward

15 December 2011

It is with fond memories that we remember the life of Ted Ward, one of APP's founding supporters, who died this October. Alexander McLean shares about Ted Ward.

I met Ted when I received a travel bursary from the Wortley Founders’ Fund, which Ted administered, to travel to Kenya to refurbish the clinic and establish a library at the maximum security prison in Nairobi, at the end of my second year at Nottingham University. Ted and his wife Mary had met at Nottingham about fifty years previously and their relationship with each other, and the university took off. Ted was heavily involved in the development of young people, especially through the Boys’ Brigade. With Mary he donated books and money in lieu of birthday and Christmas presents to APP. He also shared his professional skills relating to management and organisational development with me. Despite the fact that he was 81 he remained very interested in our work, and was tempted to come and visit us in Uganda! I thank Ted’s family for generously asking those who knew Ted to consider donating to APP in his memory, and many have done so already.
