Christmas event in Uganda was a great success

Finlay Wood, the APP Fundraiser in Uganda shares about the APP Uganda Christmas event...
Greetings to you all from Kampala!!
Mid December 2011 we had a end of year celebration and fundraising event here at our offices in Kampala. We invited a whole range of interesting people from corporate sponsors, to prison officials, to friends interested in our work to local community leaders. A total of 65 attended to share in the celebrations.
Celebration of ones achievement is an amazing thing. Hearing people share about APP’s work and how they have benefited from and appreciated our involvement is critical to developing awareness and partners to sustain the work. We had a great time doing just this. It was good to reflect on what has been achieved and the number of people we have impacted through our programs run from APP.
Different people shared a brief testimony before Alexander gave us all an inspirational update and challenge to continue the work we have started, building new relationships and expanding our programmes around the country. We all then enjoyed a warm meal together as conversations continued and people also got a chance to see where we office from, our resource centre and also the computer training suite.
We do believe a many went away inspired about our work, challenged to do more and with a new perspective of how to engage with this innovative project.
Thank you to all who came and we look forward to your growth in interest, commitment to funding the work and together making a huge difference in the lives of prisoners in Kampala and the wider society in which we all live.
A really big thank you goes to City Tyres, Terrain Plant and Great Lakes Safaris, all who sponsored the event.
Have an inspirational 2012!!
Finlay Wood
