APP is Recruiting for a Correspondence Studies Officer in Uganda

African Prisons Project (APP) is an innovative charity founded to improve access to healthcare, education, justice and community reintegration for prisoners in Africa. APP works to establish a new model for imprisonment in Africa, based on a respect for human rights and prisons as places of positive transformation. APP’s work is built on three pillars: infrastructure development; formal and informal education, which ranges from functional adult literacy to helping prisoners and prisons staff study for degrees by correspondence with British universities; and community sensitisation. As our charity continues to grow and to offer more support to prisoners and their families in Africa, we are looking to appoint a Correspondence Studies Officer, based in Uganda to oversee all aspects of the running of the APP correspondence programme; from developing support materials to recruiting students. At present, APP are supporting eight students (inmates, ex-inmates and prison staff) to study for their Diploma in the Common Law or LLB Degree. More...
