APP Education Advisor to Speak at International Conference About Work With APP
26 October 2011
Maria Cotera, APP’s Education Advisor, will be speaking as part of a panel that will discuss ‘Library Users in Turbulent Times’ at the Internet Librarian International Conference, in London on 28th October.
Maria will be speaking about APP within her title remit: ‘How can librarians in Uganda work to increase information literacy and bridge the information gap between rich and poor?’
The panel members, Maria, Kayo Chang from Bahrain Polytechnic and Feda Kulenovic from the Peace Support Operations Training Centre, will discuss and track the vital role that libraries can play within society as a whole.
Maria has chosen to speak about APP instead of her IFLA work because it fits very well in the programme; it is something she says will not need too much preparation as she says ‘I know it by heart as I have spoken about APP on quite a few occasions already’, and, importantly, because she knows it always inspires people and makes them think about the role of librarians in society and how they can influence positive change - which is exactly what the conference session is about.
