APP are seeking a creative volunteer to join the team in Uganda as a Choir Master...

APP are seeking an experienced choir master to join our team in Uganda for 3-6 months to work alongside prison choirs.

In December 2007, APP recorded a CD of the death row choirs at the Luzira prisons complex in Kampala, Uganda. The choirs recorded were the ‘Freedom Choir’ and the ‘St Ambias Choir’ who are all condemned men, and the ‘Victoria Choir’ which consists of condemned and non-condemned female prisoners. APP are seeking an experienced choir master to develop these choirs, amongst other choirs. To hear these choirs in action, you can hear them on YouTube Death Row Choir Performing ‘Sunny Day’.

If you have solid experience of working with choirs, and of the wide range of tasks that can cover, and would enjoy providing a voice for the prisoners, which is rarely heard outside the prison yard then you could be using your skills and experience to make a big difference this year.

If you are looking for a new challenge and the chance to make a difference in 2012, and theopportunity to develop and establish new skills, meet new people and work as part of a dedicated and motivated team, then this is the right role for you.

The role will be based full time for three - six months in Kampala,Uganda.

How to apply:

Please contact Emma Humphrey by e-mailing fundraising@africanprisons.org with a copy of your CV and covering letter to apply for this position or to find out more about the role.
